ABOUT OCIB
Operation Courage is Beautiful's Mission:
To bring a little joy and femininity to our active duty, deployed US servicewomen through care packages geared for women
Currently, around 175,000 active duty personnel are deployed overseas, with 18% being women. Despite the significant role female service members play, most care packages are designed with men in mind —think men's socks, deodorant, and soap. Operation Courage is Beautiful (OCIB) works to change that by ensuring servicewomen receive the recognition, support, and care they deserve, with care packages tailored to their unique needs and preferences.

Over 75% of our care package requests come from deployed service members, and more than 95% of these requests are specifically for women. Annually, we ship more than 3.5 tons of personal care items and other morale-boosting products to service members deployed around the globe. Our packages are sent to APO/FPO addresses in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and aboard Naval ships worldwide. The heartfelt feedback we receive—often saying our packages are "the best [they] ever received"—reinforces the impact of our work.

Operation Courage is Beautiful has been the recipient of numerous grants, including ones from the National VFW, Military Spouses Association of Camp Pendleton, Air Force Officers' Spouses Club of Washington, DC, most recently the SDG&E Steps4Good program, and many others. Past donors and partners include small businesses, corporations, corporate groups, and organizations including units of the Daughters of the American Revolution, college sororities and fraternities, etc., locally and nationwide. We have been mentioned in national publications such as Glamour Magazine and Women’s World Magazine. Our founder Cindy Chan has also received the She Serves Award from the National VFW for her efforts. The first week of November in San Diego has been declared by the City of San Diego as “Operation Courage is Beautiful” week.
