Leave Your Comment on Being a Woman in the Military
Most websites are geared toward family members of male soldiers. But we want to know what it means to be a Woman in the military.
What is it like to depart from your husband, kids, parents and/or friends to serve in the military? What is it like to serve with other men and women in the military? What is it like being overseas? What would you like to say to your friends and family back home? Let us know where you are/will be located and for how long.

Next month i will be leaving my two beautiful boys, both under the age of 5, for a seven month deployment. This will be our longest separation we have ever encountered. It is hard for them when i leave occasionally on 1 week, 2 week, or even 3 week cruises, so i know this will especially be difficult for them to not have their mom around for 7 months. The hardest part for me about all of this is imagining what they are going through at such a young age with out me being there to protect them . . . bullies, illnesses, injuries, etc. But with my children’s father and my boyfriend of 11 years by myside, i know my children will be in great hands and i will somewhat be at ease.
Hi Cassie-
Thank you for sharing your post and for all you do and the sacrifices that you make. Make sure you let us know, if you haven’t already, where you will be deployed so that we can send you and your fellow female warriors some well-deserved items. If there is any other way we can support you and your unit, don’t hesitate to tell us. Know that we appreciate all you do!!!

I just got forwarded this website from my other women co-workers. We got our here to Afghanistan a few months ago and have bonded really well. Many of us have left husbands and/or kids behind to do our part out here. I personally have two kids back home, 3.5 years and nearly 18months. Although it’s hard missing these precious moments of my kids’ time growing up and developing, support from these type of sites and organizations have really helped me pull through. It’s so much fun getting mail and packages out here and certainly is a great distractor!!
Thank you for all your support, especially specific to women warriors!

Bridget
